Who is Red?
Red refers to the color of my hair. What is left of it, anyway. It is a nickname most of us redheads get as a child. I thought it was appropriate to use it on the blog since the University of Louisville Cardinals school colors are red and black.
I am a graduate of the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering as is Colonel Steve, my partner on the Conservative Musings blog. My degree program was Engineering Math and Computer Science, as it was called back then. I was much better at the "Computer Science" part than the "Engineering Math" part. I was a middling student but hit my stride in the workplace.
I have been a software developer for over twenty years, working in Pascal, C, and C++ early on. For the past five years I have been developing client server applications in Java.
I play acoustic guitar and am very fond of Martin guitars. I have a Martin HD-28VE (dreadnought, vintage style, with fishman electronics). I play primarily at two churches, one of which is Hispanic. I am taking Spanish classes, but I don't have enough vocabulary yet to communicate.
I am married to a lovely wife and we have a wonderful child. We recently acquired a beagle puppy who has a definite fondness for shoes -- whether they are on our feet or off them!
Personality-wise, according to the Meiers-Briggs Personality Inventory, I am an INFP (Introverted-iNtuitive-Feeling-Perceptive). I am borderline F/T (Feeling/Thinking), so in the workplace, I tend to move more towards the T.
The whole of my identity, though, is as a Christian. Like everyone else in the world, I am a flawed person with a variety of bad and good behaviors. Over twenty years ago, though, I met Jesus Christ and trusted Him to be my Saviour. He is helping me to grow to be more like Him, but I have a long way to go. I will always be unworthy to stand in the presence of God, but Jesus promised he would cover my rebellion. He already paid the price for it.
