Who Is Colonel Steve?
Glad you asked! The name 'Colonel Steve' comes from my first name coupled with the fact that I am a Kentucky Colonel.
I was born in Louisville and currently reside there as well. My teenage years found me in Western Kentucky. Madisonville, to be exact. I am a 1979 graduate of Madisonville North-Hopkins High School and a 1983 graduate of the University of Louisville J.B. Speed School of Engineering. I've been married for over 18 years to a gorgeous lady (dubbed Lady Colonel on the Conservative Musings blog).
My senior year in high school was the year that I allowed Jesus Christ to move into my life. Twenty-seven years later finds me in awe of just how much love it took for Him to reach out to me. We as a family currently attend Forest Park Community Church on Blankenbaker Road. (Check out our worship leader's blog).
One might think, being an engineering graduate, that I might like the sciences. You'd be right on! One thing I've loved since childhood is astronomy. I've been in awe of God's heavens even before I knew to thank Him for them. One of the fun things I love doing is volunteering time with Louisville Astronomical Society events. Many of these events are geared towards kids who end up as in awe of the sky as I was at their age.
I have also fairly recently in life had the privilege of being the senior technical support person for our company meteorologists. I've always been the type to run out and watch the storms as they brew up whereever I'm happen to be at the time. As I've taught some of them the electronic parts of their job, they've taught me some of their forecasting knowledge. I don't think we'll be replacing each other anytime soon, but it sure has been fun!
I am a big movie & TV fan, and not so ironic enough many of my favorite flicks and movies are science fiction in nature. Just about anything Star Trek in nature or associated with Stargate SG-1 are among the tops on the list. Of late, the show "24" has also become a favorite.
Take a look around the red sidebar. Several things will be listed like favorite books, favorite movies, and stuff that suggests more of who I am.
Thanks for reading Conservative Musings!
