Did Rep. Delahunt mean what he said?

On June 26th, David Addington, VP Cheney's Chief of Staff was testifying before a House subcommittee regarding interrogation practices.  When David Addington refused to discuss specific techniques because Al Queda could well be watching the proceedings, Rep. Bill Delahunt replied, "Well, I'm sure they are watching and I'm glad they will finally get to see you Mr. Addington."  All this with a smug smile on his face.

Why do Democrats not get it?!!!  This was an outrageous statement and he should not be allowed to get away with it.  He later said he meant no ill will.  Yeah, riiiggghhtt!  What do you think?  Watch the video.  Also read Pat Dollard's blog.

Jimmy Carter - Go Away!

This past week, America's 39th president, met with the leaders of Hamas, encouraging them and even giving a hug to one of their officials.  Can you imagine the giddiness of Hamas?  They now feel validated.  Carter even went so far as to put a wreath on the tomb of Yassar Arafat.  We certainly are not portraying a unified front here.  The US should revoke Carter's visa!  He should never again have the opportunity to take his agenda to terrorist's groups in the name of the US.  Whenever a past president meets with leaders around the world, it is viewed entirely differently than if an individual citizen offers their support.  When you take on the role of President of the United States, you should understand that you will never again be able to be viewed as a common citizen.  No matter what Carter's bizarre beliefs are about Hamas, they are still a terrorist group and should be treated as such.

Is this Carter's first experience in this area?  No, in 2002 he met with Castro.  He also met with Chavez and helped him win an election in Venezuela.  The Wall Street Journal said Carter was fooled in the article, Conned in Caracas.  We should never again allow this to happen.  I for one would love to see Carter either stay with Hamas or never again be  allowed to meet with terrorists.

Why We Are There

83475You've heard all the lines about the United States and it's position in Iraq.  "We're there for the oil."  "More Yankee Imperialism."  "We hurt innocent civilians."  "No one who lives in Iraq wants us there."

Read the story about this little guy at the milblog Blackfive.  One more reason why we're there.  May seem like an insignificant reason to some.  Not to me.  Nor to this little tyke.

A friend of mine is a medic over there now.  The work they do supporting not only our own folks, but the civilians in the surrounding areas will not be forgotten.

For him and for me, thank all of you for your service.

A Not So Real Simulation

It's a great thing to get trained in an almost real simulation.  Take today's modern flight simulators.  Or the training the military does at the Fort Knox Zussman Urban Combat Training Center.

Now we have the folks at Burlington Township High School holding a mock hostage situation for police training purposes.  Only this time, it's a pretend right-wing Christian group.

For realism, huh?  Just how often does a Christian group held folks hostage?  The rest of the simulation may have been accurate, but I'm certain this part wasn't.

Rosie Debunked by Popular Mechanics

Last night, Lady Colonel and I heard replays on the radio of Rosie O'Donnell's rants about the collapse of WTC7.  We were both amazed at the zaniness of the tirade.  You'd think by her comments she thought she graduated from an engineering school.  Obviously far from it.

Popular Mechanics responds with a point by point debunking of her comments.

In one part of her tirade, she promised to bring in physicists from Harvard and Yale to prove her theories.  Yeah, right.  Later, either her or someone else on the show commented that Yale physicists couldn't be too good due to President Bush graduating from there.  Don't forget, Rosie, so did John Kerry.  And his cumulative GPA were slightly worse.

Pelosi: "Waaaah!"

Speaker Pelosi is all upset because Vice President Cheney said that the Democrats' plan to strangle the Iraq effort would "validate the Al Qaeda strategy."  She whines he is questioning their patriotism by implying they are less interested in national security than the GOP.

Al Qaeda said that we would lose our will to fight the war in response to their persistence and the Democrats (and some weak-kneed Republicans) are following that script.  The job is not done in Iraq and anything we do to leave before the job is done means that Al Qaeda and their terrorist brethren have won.

All Cheney is doing is stating the facts.  If the Democrats' feel their patriotism has been impugned by doing such, well, thats too bad.  Facts are facts.  Of course, the Democrats' have repeatedly shown they are all to willing to ignore facts in their pursuit of political points.

Pope's Statement

Maybe someone could explain to me how these statements from the Pope could trigger these violent expressions from those representing the religion he spoke about.

Of course, I admit I do have a bias in this affair.  I reside in a country where, when words are expressed, the usual result is alternate words being expressed back (sometimes heated, but in the form of words none the less).  In this country, when words are returned with violence, the law gets involved to punish the violence.

We as a country have been known to return violence when violence has been expressed, but not when only words are expressed.

Lan astaslem

Lan_astaslem
As noted by Michelle Malkin, the above Arabic "Lan astaslem" translates as "I will not submit. I will not surrender."

We, as the American right, will not submit to the fear mongering of the islamic jihadists or the American left.  We will see this through.

9-11 Tribute to Sean Patrick Lynch

299611

2996 Memorial

Sean Patrick Lynch, 36, was an interest-rate options broker for Cantor Fitzgerald.  He was on the 105th floor of tower 1 on September 11th, 2006.

He was the father of two daughters and one son on the way, born two months after his death.  In his honor, his son is named Sean Patrick Lynch, Jr.  That is who I'd like to talk to today:

To: Sean Patrick Lynch, Jr.

Dear Sean,

Now that you are approaching your 5th birthday, I'd like to tell you a few things I've read about your dad.

He was known to leave for work everyday at 5 a.m.  Some would think that's due to being a workaholic.  But those that knew him realized he did that to get home early to see your two older sisters.  I'm sure he would have kept it up to see you as well.

Something tells me he'd be out there now, shooting basketballs with you at a goal he would have installed just to play with you.  Or maybe you all would be at a Knicks game. Or the Jets or Mets, for he rooted for them all.

He loved reading.  Many things he was known to read you might be reading some day.  Tom Clancy novels, Sports Illustrated, biographies of U.S. Presidents...the list goes on and on.

I've been reading a lot lately myself, Sean.  About those who were with your dad a couple of months before you were born.  They all had unique stories.  But what stands out the most was how honorable each and every one of their lives were.  Your dad was no exception.

I'm sure your mom has many other stories she's told you about him.  She's probably told you a few stories more than once.  Keep listening...I'm sure there will be some new twist to the stories the next time it's told.

In closing, I'd like to say that many of us throughout the country will continue to remember you in our thoughts and prayers.  Thanks for reading, Sean.
