Partisanship In Kentucky's Capital
Lady Colonel and I spent this past Saturday visiting her old hometown of Frankfort. Yes, amazingly enough, she admits hailing from there. We took our granddaughters down there to see all the old haunts of their grandmother.
While hanging around the State Capitol, I got to thinking about all the comments concerning the Fletcher administration. About how partisan those darn republicans are. Particularly Ernie Fletcher. The same stories mentioned how great it would be to get a non-partisan democrat back into the governor's mansion.
We should be oh so glad, now that we have Steve Beshear in office. No partisanship anywhere on the capitol grounds.
Like this shot to the left? Found on the first floor of the capitol building, below the senate chambers. Some historic poster, asking to vote the straight democratic ticket, including Noble J. Gregory, 1st District Representative of Kentucky. Gee, must have missed this one, cleaning out all that partisan stuff left by Ernie Fletcher's group.
Glad there is no partisanship in the capitol parking lot either. Very few cars there on a Saturday. Someone must have come through and slapped this one on an employee's car. Shame on whoever slapped those bumper stickers on!
Seriously....this stuff doesn't bother me in the least. It's to be expected. What's not to be expected...and bothers me...is when one side whines about the other side being partisan. Of course they are! The only way not to have partisanship is not to have sides. There's always at least 3 sides to every issue, counting those who don't care.
So the next time we have a republican in office, start getting over it now. Get prepared now...they will be partisan.

Dear Colonel Steve,
A couple of days after 9/11 I was in a city government building in Phoenix. They had a poster display of prominent people on one of those temporary walls used to make office cubicles. Right in the middle of the rogues gallery was Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Supreme Court Justice. I looked out the window and just down the block was the new Sandra Day O'Connor Federal Court building.
Regards,
Roy
