Immigration Bill Thoughts II
Michelle Malkin notes today that the Coburn amendment to the immigration bill went down in defeat 42-52. This amendment would have required enforcement of current immigration laws as part of the trigger mechanisms for other parts of the bill to take effect.
By voting this down, we've moved back to 'status quo'. As in, currently, immigration laws aren't being enforced anyway. This move does seem to beg the question: Do we ever intend on enforcing ANY immigration laws? If we don't enforce the current ones, will we ever enforce even this immigration bill if it becomes law?
