The Wicked Old White Witch
Like Michelle Malkin, I too saw the Scotsman article about the wacky comments of the Narnia actress. Seems that Tilda Swinton, the actress who portrayed the White Witch, has a bone to pick with Walt Disney and Christianity in general. She also discusses her membership in the communist party of Great Britain.
One comment of Tilda's was quoted at lifesite.net:
She said: "I would go so far as to say that not only is this not a religious book, but, if anything, it's actually an anti-religious book in the sense that it is about the very opposite of following a dogma, following a doctrine."
C.S. Lewis not religious? Or even anti-religious? Give me a break.
Michelle wraps up her comments on the article with these comments:
Capitalism and freedom make it possible for this woman to make a living. The inspired creative work of the world's greatest Christian writer provided the basis for her biggest, most successful movie vehicle to date. She shows her gratitude by trashing fascist Hollywood.
Sort of dampens one's enthusiasm to see the next Narnia movie, doesn't it?
I must confess that it doesn't dampen mine. I look forward to it knowing that "Ding dong, the wicked witch is dead!" Simply put, she won't be back in the next movie.
