More craziness enters the Commonwealth of Kentucky this weekend as the Wildcats of Kentucky hosts the Cardinals of Louisville at Rupp Arena in Lexington. CBS Sports will be broadcasting the game at 2pm Eastern.
I'm sure, based on the description of this blog, that you can be sure who I'll be cheering for. And you've heard from Red. But the question is, what's the score gonna be. The Pomeroy ratings has Louisville rated at 36th, and Kentucky at 48th. However, he has Louisville losing by 2. His rankings give home court advantage a 3.94 point (4 points) bias. So that means, on a neutral court, Louisville would win by 2, or in Freedom Hall they'd win by 6 points.
Why bring this up? I think, along with Ken Pomeroy, that it will be close. The Wildcats have the homecourt, but Louisville's won there before. Louisville comes with a 6 game winning streak, but could be going in with an ego. They did last year, led most of the game, then lost in the last couple of minutes. I think the coaching staff will be reminding them of that over and over and........
Kentucky has already been beaten by a team ranked higher than them by Pomeroy (Iowa, a 67 to 63 loss). Louisville hasn't played anyone close to their rankings.
My pick? Louisville by 4. They'll lead more earlier in the game, but they'll wane towards the end. Much like last year. But I think they will hold off a loss.
No matter what the score.....GO CARDS!!!!
