Merry Christmas Anyway

I suspected this day might come someday.  I just wasn't ready for it.

Yesterday I received in my work email a survey from Human Resources concerning placing a Christmas tree in the company lobby.  The concerns were typical: alienation, discrimination, or offended feelings.

Since I was asked, I choose to voice my opinions to our H.R. department: 1) The email itself offended me, since our business (like many other businesses) depends heavily on Christmas, and 2) I've been asked to honor diversity.  I've been happy to celebrate, honor, or be patient during many other special days through the year.  I requested the same treatment for Christmas.

I see my organization wasn't the only one involved in stuff like this:  Lowes, the Capitol, Fox News, and the Novi subdivision near Detroit.

Oh well.  Merry Christmas.
