Men and Women Shop....
...differently, yeah, that's the word. I so remember a group of us men shopping for Christmas last year, while our lovely counterparts stayed home and watched chick flicks together. We went out and conquered places like Best Buy, Circuit City, Meijers, Wal-Mart, and Kmart with military precision. We entered, found, purchased, and left with such quickness. And no, it wasn't Christmas Eve!
Well, this year the British Times Online has come up with the same conclusion (but with Christmas Eve in mind):
New research has revealed that men are better shoppers than women, because they don’t browse, have a clearer idea of what they want, and complete their shopping in the shortest possible time. Please! Any woman reading this will immediately think of those presents so efficiently purchased on Christmas Eve at 5.45pm. (“But I thought you’d like some gift-box soap/lady cuff links/an ornamental umbrella.”) Quick and easy, maybe, but not what you could call Good Shopping.
Obviously, the conclusion the scientists should have reached is that men and women shop differently — da-da!
For all you other efficient male shoppers, Google has developed a shoppers helper in time for this Christmas season (HT: Outside the Beltway). This is found through Google's Froogle site, where you can have displayed a map of all merchants in or near a Zip code selling a product, with it's price.
So, for those of us men who don't do ALL our shopping online, we've got a new tool. Go Google!
