Don Adams Dies at 82

For Bob Denver's death recently, I had said: "They say you know you are getting old when the songs you listened to in high school show up on the oldies channel.  Those of us in the first television generations have a new one: losing the folks you watched on TV while growing up."  I now say the same for Don Adams.  He has died at 82.

Like Bob with Gilligan, Don was stereotyped based on his character of Maxwell Smart of the Get Smart television series.  He went on to a few other parts, but some were reminiscent of his Smart character: Inspector Gadget for one.

He was also a veteran of World War Two.  He fought with the Marines at Guadalcanal, where he came down with malaria. He was not expected to live, but he told his nursing staff "I'm not going anyplace.".  Sounds like Maxwell.

I'm reminded of a quote from the series:

KAOS Agent: Look, I'm a sportsman. I'll let you choose the way you want to die.
Maxwell Smart: All right, how about old age?

Looks as though the Lord has allowed him.  Thanks Don, and we'll miss you this much.
